SAGB Conference 2025 – Another Successful Gathering for the Sector

The 2025 SAGB Annual Conference and Dinner brought together stakeholders from across the shellfish industry for two packed days of discussion, insight and celebration at Fishmongers’ Hall.

This year’s programme featured a range of high-quality presentations, including an address by Fisheries Minister Daniel Zeichner, who spoke on food security, SPS realignment with the EU, and future management of Pacific oysters. Delegates welcomed his openness to questions from the floor — a rare and appreciated gesture.

One of the standout sessions came from Sue Mackenzie, President of the NFF, whose entertaining and down-to-earth stories from her fish shop left the room both informed and in fits of laughter.

The evening seafood dinner — expertly delivered by the Fishmongers’ Hall chefs — was another highlight, topped off with a lively and amusing after-dinner speech from Ben Wright.
