SAGB Welcomes Dr Emma Wootton to the Team

The Shellfish Association of Great Britain is delighted to welcome Dr Emma Wootton as Deputy to Chief Executive David Jarrad. Emma joins SAGB with over 25 years of experience in fisheries, aquaculture, and sustainable seafood production — bringing a wealth of knowledge to the organisation at a time of rapid change and challenge for the industry.

Emma’s career spans senior roles across the private and public sectors, including positions with ABPmer, the Marine Stewardship Council, Seafish, and Swansea University. Her expertise covers shellfish aquaculture, fisheries management, policy development, certification schemes, stakeholder engagement, and shellfish health. She also brings personal insight from her own hands-on experience in oyster farming and restorative aquaculture.

At SAGB, Emma will be supporting a wide range of projects across the Association’s remit — strengthening our capacity to advocate for members, drive forward key initiatives, and support the sustainable development of the UK shellfish sector.
